As you may remember from our Compassion service, we sponsor a child through Compassion’s programme, and have done for about nine months now. We thought you might be interested to get to know more about him!

Teshome Kabeta is our sponsored child, he is nine years old and lives in Ambo, 100km west of Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia. Teshome lives with his father and sister, but unfortunately his mother is no longer alive. They live in a house constructed of dirt floors, mud walls and a corrugated iron roof, and eat mainly bread and grain.

The best thing about Compassion is that although Teshome and his family don’t have easy lives, he gets to hear about the love and hope that knowing God brings. The staff at Ambo Kale Heywot Church Student Centre provide Teshome with Bible teaching, health and hygiene education, supplementary food, clothing, recreational activities (such as football), scholastic materials and academic support. He also gets involved in other church activities through Compassion’s ministry.

 It is not only the sponsorship money that helps to support Teshome.  Compassion encourages sponsors to write letters to their child, to show that they care- it makes a huge difference to the children.
